The Rother Table Tennis Academy was launched in September 2009 as the development arm of the Battle Community Table Tennis Club. The aim was to
bring together the club’s Premier Schools Table Tennis Project by linking schools together under one roof. In addition the new academy formed greater
links with the Hastings & Rother School Sports Partnership as well as continuing to work with our established partners such as Rother District Council and
Claverham Community Sports College.
Since the introduction of the Academy we have worked on many projects including a number of Sports Unlimited Projects, visits to local, inactive schools,
as well as the more recent partnership with William Parker Sports College to form a Community Table Tennis Club for young people under the Change 4
Life Clubs development programme.
More recently we have commenced work in Eastern Rother working in partnership with Rye College to establish both after school provision as well as a
Junior Community Club. The result of this is that we are able to offer more school opportunities as well as a community link club in three main areas of
Hastings & Rother. These clubs provide a link to local schools providing greater opportunities for young people.
Battle Community Table Tennis Club still remains at the very heart of the academy. The club remains as a hub club for all schools and community clubs as
it is a registered ETTA Premier Club. This structured link provides access to higher level coaching and competition for those wishing to progress as well as
those identified as Gifted and Talented.
